Arduino And Flash Tutorials. All Of A Sudden.Arduino And Flash Tutorials. All Of A Sudden.Arduino And Flash Tutorials. All Of A Sudden.

If you (like me) get to know the term “software tutorial” related to some professional products like the Adobe Suite, you are going to be quite amazed in seeing Kevin Hoyt introducing Arduino as the Physical counterpart of that high-level, client-friendly, closed-source, wonderful software which is Adobe Flash.

[…] If you like me spend a lot of time -everyday- in front of the computer, and that’s just great..don’t get me wrong…Adobe Developers built some of the collest apps out there…but…what happens when you close your laptop and walk away? For most part web developer just live there in the Ether, you’ve got nothing really to show from your hard day of work…but, that bothers me, so I want to kind of escape the bounds of the computer, and do something more…[…]

This is kind of a deep witnessing. You to judge what that really means.

Anyway, here come the tutorials I suddenly found over the internet (thanks David!). Note that none of them goes over the 150 views, even if they are totally perfect. I hope this post helps to spread the message. Here‘s the playlist of all (9) videos. I embedded three of them here.

I came across a couple of these tutorials back in September and was very impressed to see the application of Flash with resource limited (not a criticism) embedded platform such as the Arduino.

It was interesting to hear Kevin’s comments that he was ‘not’ hardware orientated (or words to that effect) when describing the setting up of the uart baud rates etc. lol (again not a criticism, especially from me, who is on the ‘dark side’, i.e. Hardware.)

    I made a FX rate display with Arduino+Ether Shield+Nixie(IN-12Bx6).
You can see it on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHqj_aFNwwg.
    Please enjoy it.

He is a “platform evangelist”!!! Incredible. Adobe as a religion!

  4. Lars D. Forseth Says:

Wow! I’ve been following the Arduino project for about two years now and have one myself as well. The fact, that Adobe (one of their evangelists) talks and showcases Arduino (of course in relation to their own product Adobe Flash) is a huge chance for Arduino to gain popularity and probably some sort of big compliment for the Arduino project! Congrats guys, you rock! 🙂

@Marco: Note that most tech companies have evangelists of one sort or another, whether “developer relations” (eg. as with Mozilla for Firefox, or Microsoft for IE) and so on. Get people stoked about the language/technology being offered, etc.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been working on a JavaScript wrapper around the AS3Glue Flash/Arduino library that allows people to do I/O in JavaScript, instead of having to write code within Flash. It’s yet another technology piece on the stack, but it does work pretty well once set up. http://www.arduino.cc/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1289151390

At the moment, I’m waiting for my Arduino Uno board to ship home. I’m really looking forward to that moment, and those tutorials seem to help a lot. Thank you for posting!
