These are the stats for Arduino’s website during the last months.
You can clearly see that we moved the downloads out to Google code in January/February this year, and that the traffic is stabilizing at about 300GB per month. The variables show that we are slowly moving towards the 10.000.000 hits figure … and I thought half the world was on vacation in July!
UPDATE (20090808): we got a request to show the OS breakdown of the stats, here it comes -just for the fun of it, I attached the full OS report-

Hits are just the total amount of files accessed on the webserver, what really matters is 229 990 unique visitors, visiting the site on average 2.29 times. Each user has accessed 16.41 pages, and poked around 42.15 different files. On average 🙂 Either way it’s good. I love seeing all kinds of new Arduino stuff, so the more visitors, the more users and hackers I hope 🙂

I never said hits were the amount of visitors 🙂 Anyway, thanks for making it more clear for everyone to understand. I agree Awstats is not the most user friendly tool to show stats.

I’d be curious to see the OS breakdown, if that’s feasible. It’d help me find out where the Ardunio Linux people are at.

I think it is pretty clear the Linux community is a growing one, it has already reached 10% of the total (see the update to the post) but I think it is not yet reaching its max (or at least that’s my hope).
We need some help though, due the the variety of *nix OS versions. The playground is working pretty good as a tool to support users installing the IDE; it would however be great having things like a *.deb and the equivalents for Red Hat, Suse, etc.
We e.g. see more and more Ubuntu users without command-line knowledge, installing packages and dependencies is not as easy as clicking on Applications–>Add/Remove. Also the 32bit vs. 64bit OS versions add more to the issue of installing the IDE … but well, this is a completely different discussion 🙂

I prefer linux to windows do to the quality of the software and security. I really think linux is rising up to microsoft, my wish is for linux to even take down microsoft.

Win95, 95, BeOS, OS/2 – ok, can imagine somebody is still running that stuff. But Win 3.xx and CP/M – are there really any of those systems still around and running???? wow!
