Last April we launched the first of a series of video tutorial in german language with the aim of exploring cool projects with Arduino boards. Now we are happy to announce we are starting a collaboration with Pablo Murillo from Arduteka to create video tutorials in spanish language to be published  on the official Arduino channel on Youtube.

Starting today you can enjoy a step-by-step tutorial to understand how use your Arduino Esplora  as a customized computer gamepad to play any of your videogames.

The code is configured to be suitable for SuperTuxKart, our favorite  open-source racing game!

El pasado abril se lanzó el primero de una serie de video tutoriales en Alemán, con el objetivo de explorar nuevos proyectos interesantes a desarrollar con Arduino. Hoy estamos felices de anunciar que empezamos una colaboración con Pablo Murillo de Arduteka para crear video tutoriales en Español, que se publicará en el canal oficial de Arduino en Youtube.

A partir de hoy se puede disfrutar de un tutorial paso a paso para entender cómo usar Arduino Esplora como un gamepad personalizado para jugar en cualquiera de sus videojuegos.

El código está configurado para ser utilizado con SuperTuxKart, nuestro juego de carreras de código abierto favorito!

Last month we launched the first of a series of tutorials hosted on our Youtube Channel and created by Max of MaxTechTV in german language.

Today we are publishing the second video called “Pimp-up your camera with an Arduino timelapse“. The video explains how to connect an Arduino UNO with you camera and shoot pictures, for example, every 1, 5, 10 seconds to create wonderful videos of slow processes that would normally appear subtle to the human eye.

Letzten Monat haben wir das erste einer Reihe von Video-Tutorials auf unserem YouTube Kanal veröffentlicht. Erstellt werden die Tutorials von Max von MaxTechTV für all diejenigen von euch, die Deutsch sprechen.

Heute veröffentlichen wir das zweite Video mit dem Titel “Erstelle tolle Zeitrafferaufnahmen mit deiner Kamera & Arduino”. Das Video erklärt wie man einen Arduino UNO mit einer Kamera verbindet um mit dieser in bestimmten Abständen, wie z.B. 1, 5 oder 10 Sekunden, ein Bild aufzunehmen. So kann man beeindruckende Videos von langsamen Prozessen erstellen, die dem menschlichen Augen sonst verborgen bleiben würden.Viel Spaß mit dem Tutorial und teilt mit uns die Ergebnisse eurer Experimente!

The Following is an american TV Series which premiered last january and telling the story of

 former FBI agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) and his attempts to recapture serial killer Joe Carroll following the latter’s escape from prison

On the 9th of April Season 1, chapter 12  aired and some of you noticed the unexpected!

An Arduino Uno spotted for the first time in a TV series at 17m 40s: Kevin Bacon jumps over an ArduinoUno-activated device … the red led blinking seems pretty dangerous!

Have a look at this wonderfully handcrafted 20-min webumentary about Arduino, made by Opificio Ciclope and produced by Wired Italia.

Nice format and nice look: good job.

The core of our story is the life of Massimo Banzi, and the region in which he was born: the Canavese area. In particular, the city of Ivrea, a veritable Mecca of Italian informatics, where Olivetti had its headquarters. The more we discovered their world, the more it became clear that this story was not only about silicon and circuits: it was about their shared excitement and their curiosity, like kids playing with their favorite toy.

(BTW, Massimo is not from Ivrea, but I guess Ivrea’s Mayor is going to give him and the Arduino Team the honorary citizenship)

Arduino Due VGA Signal Out

[Stimmer] on the Arduino Forum hardcoded a way to display 160×240 (320×240 after some posts) VGA signal.

After working out how to do a timer interrupt I’ve had a go at making a VGA framebuffer. It is rather low-res at present(160×240) and fuzzy but I hope to be able to improve that. It has 8-bit colour (RRRGGGBB).
I cannot get Eagle to run right now so will have to describe the schematic in text:
Due pin 2 -> VGA pin 13 (HSync)
Due pin 3 -> VGA pin 14 (VSync)

Due pin 25 -> 820R resistor -> VGA pin 3 (blue)
Due pin 26 -> 390R resistor -> VGA pin 3 (blue)

Due pin 27 -> 2k2 resistor -> VGA pin 2 (green)
Due pin 28 -> 1k resistor -> VGA pin 2 (green)
Due pin 14 -> 470R resistor -> VGA pin 2 (green)

Due pin 15 -> 2k2 resistor -> VGA pin 1 (red)

An Arduino-enhanced espresso machine: the “Naked Espresso”

Reborn is an australian digital creative agency whose mission is to design smart and innovative ideas.
Among their works, a very nice one regards a hack consisting in the re-engineering of a sofisticated espresso machine, to show its peculiar features in the process of coffee making.
By means of an Arduino board, the team can collect real-time information such as flow rate, temperature and pressure; then, a Processing sketch graphically presents this data to the user in an artistic fashion.
Finally, each cup of coffee made this way is decorated with an artwork summarizing this information in its own “personal identity”.

Vertical Plotter Prototype

Space experiments for everyone: the ArduSat project

ArduSat, which stands for “Arduino satellite”, is a recently kickstarted project that aims at developing an open platform usable to emulate space scientists:

Once launched, the ArduSat will be the first open platform allowing the general public to design and run their own space-based applications, games and experiments, steer the onboard cameras to take pictures on-demand, and even broadcast personalized messages back to Earth.

ArduSat will be equipped with several sensors (such as cameras, gyros, accelerometers, GPS and more) packed inside a small cube (the side will be approximately 10 cm long) that can be accessed through a set of Arduinos.

Once in orbit, the ArduSat will be accessible from the ground to flash the required firmware for the experiments and for getting back all the collected information. People interested in performing space experiments will have access to a ground replica of ArduSat explotable to test and debug their code before the actual deployment.

The project is very ambitious, and it is expected that such an open accessible space platform will have a considerable impact on how simple space experiments will be carried out in the forthcoming years, in the case of fundraising success.
